I bought a used tohatsu 2 stroke 8HP that wasnt running . My first ever motor. I tinkered with it for a couple of hours and got it running. sounds great. Flushed it for 20 minutes.

What I am not sure about is why I have to flows of water from drive unit . One is a cool pee steam under the motor from a small hole and the other more bubbly from the drive and is warmer. I just expected one stream out to show me that water is circulating. The owners manual that I down loaded doesnt tell me much so where can I get a better book

Thanks

Welcome to iboats. Sounds fine to me. The water from the drive area is cooling the exhaust.

Yep. The telltale is a check (only) so you know the system is pressurized. The majority of the cooling water exits with the exhaust through the hub.

If this model has a water hole at the upper part of the rear leg, you have 3 water exits which indicates :

1-Pee hole, impeller and pressurized system is working properly.
2-Back leg hole, thermostat is openning/clossing and cooling head & exhaust properly.
3-Prop hub, water cooling exhaust leg along with washing exiting combustion gas/oil residues.

Happy Boating
