Ok, finally got my maiden voyage out of the way and everything went well. My motor actually started on the first pull. The thing is I went out with the GPS to check my top speed and hit 21 mph, to me thats good on a 14ft aluminum, but it sounded like the motor was going to blow at WOT. I have never run this motor before other than idle in a bucket. I don't know if it has the org. prop on it or not, is there any way to test the different props (does any store let you do this?) to see if i can bring the R's down, or is this normal for this motor???

P.S. I wanted to add that the motor when I was running it last night would start going and then it would would would stuter? Then finish reving out? This motor has fresh everything to my knowledge, it was in the shop over the winter and they siad it ran great. Is it maybe the cold air/water? Last night it was about 55 here when I was out.

Thanks,

Re: 9.5 questions

There are a number of differently pitched props. Click on "Propellers" at the top of this page and enter your information.

You can mount a "Tiny Tach" on the motor if you want to track the RPM. Full Throttle Range (From Specifications Page - Service Manual Pg 2-2)
is 4,000 to 5,000 RPM.

If you should decide on a Tiny Tach, be sure to phone them first and get the right one.
Tiny Tach
