Well yesterday I went to the lake to do some fishing and everything was fine until my outboard stopped running, I tried to crank is but it wouldnt start to I open it up and notice that the packing nut and the needle valve was completely off, I was in the middle of the lake so I put it back in the the needle valve opening so I could start it again, It started and I ran it full throttle just so I could get to the side and out of the water, but it keep going off, finally I got out and today I got the chance to started working on it, I have rebuilt the carb before so I know the basics, I tried to adjust the needle valve like I always do it, turning it clockwise until it seats, turn it counterclockwise 1 1/2 turns and then keep turning it until the engine is running to the highest RPMs. Now the engine will start but only with full choke and if i open it, it will go off, I notice that the only way it will stay running is when the choke is half open and half close, If I put it on full choke it will go off, I been messing with the needle valve all afternoon but I cant get it right, So im guessing Im doing something wrong, or maybe is something else, I also cleaned the carb but it still does the same.. so pretty much im lost here, I dont know what to do next so any help or advice are welcome..
I hope someone can help me out, thanks

If the engine will run with partical choke it is an indication of a carb problem. You said you cleaned the carb, did you yake it completely apart and clean all the passages, including the ones under the core plug on top of the carb?

Yes sit I did. I pour about two cans of carb cleaner on it. I also think it may need extra cleaning but I dont know what else to do.

Sounds like you need to tear the carb a part again and make sure all the passages are clean including under the welch plugs.

I'm having the exact same problem!!! Did you ever figure it out and get it running? The guy working on mine had the same problem with another one and it was the o ring in the needle assembly i think, but he tried it on mine and had no luck. This guy has been doing it for 35 years and he is stumped as of yet

Have you checked your fuel lines on the motor itself? If you have a crack or poor connection that causes a slight air leak to the fuel pump, you may not be getting enough fuel.
