9.8 merc drive shaft removal

I got everything down to bare case to do the seals but the top bearing is rusted and rough rolling. How do I remove the shaft? I removed the pinion bolt and bolt retainer. Does the shaft and bearing come out as one unit?

Pour some boiling water on the housing where the bearing fits.--That will in most cases release the bearing.
