You need to find a dealer that can read the parts manuals, take it back and have him get the right one Mercury still has pump kits

Like Laddies said - any dealer should be able to find the kit for you based on the serial number. If you got the wrong kit it's because the dealer messed up. They use either microfiche or some sort of computer system (I don't know if it's a CD ROM or an internet based thing - but I've seen it being used). Alternatively, using the serial number, you can order it yourself on line from oldmercs.com or mercruiserparts.com. Maybe even Iboats, but you'd have to check.

Hi guys, thanks for your advice. The dealers here all tell me the motor is too old and Mercury doesn't make/stock parts for these engines anymore. I can get the pump parts from iboats, but Canada Customs is an issue when ordering from the US, and could take weeks to arrive. I will "endeavor to persevere" as Chief Dan George would say, and will let you know what happens.

Post your serial number, and we can assist with part numbers for you. We can also point you to sites that you can look up parts on your own. That way, you can just advise your dealer what you need. All they need to do is order them from Mercury for you.

Assuming Clearwater Bay is near Kenora, you should have no problems getting parts with all those lakes & fishing lodges up there.
