hey all, I am going to look at a 9.8 merc tonight not sure what year looks like a mid to late 70s (gessing at that however) is there anything spacific about this motor that i need to look at? I am not what you might call a gear head so any help would be apreciated.

Clean gearlube and that it runs to your satifaction just like any engine that your thinking about purchasing should.
