9.9 carb jets in a 15 hp carb

I have a 75 johnson 9.9 that has a 15 hp carb on it,the carb has 9.9 jets in it. The motor runs ok butI havent had a load on it yet and dont want to lean it out with more air and not enough fuel. Does anyone have experience on this, I can get the 15 jet but im not really concerned with the extra power just dont want to ruin a motor. thanks

Get the proper jets for your carburetor. In 1975, the only difference between the 9.9 and the 15 was the carb, so you won't be getting the proper mixture with the 9.9 jets.

In reality, you'll realize about 13 hp with that engine...not 15, but it'll still perform nicely.
