9.9 Evinrude

Hi all, I'm looking to convert my rebuilt 9.9 into a 15HP. Does anyone know if this carburetor will bolt right on?

I believe it will but there is no information on the unit. No diameter of the carb or year.

Not enough information. What year is your Evinrude? Only on some models from the 70s does a simple carburetor switch handle the conversion.

Further, the carb at that link is for a 90s 4-stroke. If you have a two-stroke, it's the wrong carburetor.

My Motor is a 1979 Evinrude 9.9 (10924b Model). Yeah, I've been reading http://www.sschapterpsa.com/ramblings/Johnson 9.9_15.htm

You will need a carb off a 76-late 80's 15 hp. As long as its an all metal carb it should work.
Check ebay for the carb or look on Craigslist for a non running or ugly motor that you can get cheap and then sell the parts you don't need on ebay.

With the carb modification your not going to gain a lot in top end speed (just a few mph) but you will see the gains in the hole shot and how quickly you get up to speed.
