Hey Guys
After getting my 9.9 to run again and yes it was pumping water. So I pulled the lower unit and checked the impeller which was intact. (I had never changed it) Put it back together and it only pumps minimal water. The housing was a little corroded and the metal plate was intact. I ran it in a bucket of water with a 1/2 inch elec drill and it pumped a little. Since there are no gaskets, would silicone between the housing and plate make it pump better. Planning to put in a new impeller kit this week. Any similar experiences. I cleaned the carb but it smoked an excessive amount at about a 75 to 1 ratio. My Yamaha hardly smoked at all on the same tank. Do you screw in the idle needle to lean out the mixture? Any help appreciated.

Re: 9.9 force impeller

Old impellers just don't move water like they should.

Yes, you turn screw in to lean out the mixture, but too far and you melt the engine.
Your Force is going to smoke more than your Yammy.

The Force technology is much older.
And chances are your recirculation system is crudded up.
