1975 Evinrude 9.9 (10554C)…..I am going to order a fuel pump rebuild kit (#393088) and was wondering if I need any other parts to replace that would “not” be in the kit? Or some extra part that I would need. Was going to order from Iboats and have never used a Sierra part on this old motor. Any thoughts are appreciated.

leeroy's ramblings has a photo rebuild of that pump....I'd advise you to put a witness mark down one side of the pump and make certain it catches the many "layers" so that you'll know for certain how those parts align when you reassemble...I tried one once unsuccessfully, but wish you success..it would have been beneficial if omc had seen fit to to cast either a well or nub to keep the springs in place upon reassembly

One little tip I can't take credit for personally, but works good for this kind of thing is that a good fuel rated gasket sealer is useful for "tacking" layered diaphrams and hard to reach gasket installs. Used in a very thin film or just tiny dabs work as extra hands, not really as a sealant.
Good luck.

you can crazy glue the little plastic mushrooms on top of the springs and then carazy glue the springs on their respective nipples.

this will hold them in place and kept from flying around.

use small dabs of glue... don't over do it ...
