9.9 gamefisher low spark or no spark at the plugs

I have a 9.9 gamefisher outboard. model#217586231 when i pull to start i sometimes get a small orange-yellow spark or no spark. what could be the problem the magneto or the transformer. this is a solid state ignition.

I had a 15hp Chrysler Seaking that had similar symptoms, and all I did was take the flywheel off and clean the magnets with some emory cloth and cleaned the coil thing that the magnets went across with emory cloth, and it worked like a champ. Sorry I dont know the technical terms.

I did all that nathan still no spark. I know the gamefisher engine is not all that great but its all I have right now. Thanks

Do you know which engine it is? Is it the force or the Eska? Do you maybe know what year it is? Both models of those engines are great, I wish I still had my 15hp. You might have the coil(s) tested. There is not much to the electrical system on those motors. Let us know.

not real sure what engine it is. I am real sure its a 1979 gamefisher. model #217-586231. I was told not to put money into this engine. It was not real dependable. Thats to bad, because other then the spark problem this engine is in great condition.

If you contact www.Rapair.com, I seen on other board, that they had made prototype replacement ignition system, and were looking for mechanic/owner to test.

217.586231 Paste this number at the Sears Parts web site...you have an Eska 9.9 HP They have part numbers and exploded view there....

sears no longer stock the magnetos for the 9.9 gamefisher outboard model #217-586231. any ideas where to find these.

Try buying a junker and swapping the parts.Try Anything marine 631 447 1884 ask for henry.It is a marine Boneyard on Long Island.You never know what he has there. CC
