I've got a 1997 (Force) Sears 9.9 HP GameFisher. It ran great last year. But being a stupid novice I just pulled it off the boat and stuck in my shed all winter. Now I'm trying to sell it and the boat. Now it doesn't start. I dropped the lower half in a tub of water (because I thought that's what you do),and tried to pull start it. I could hardly pull the starter. I can only pull the rope out half way if I'm lucky. It feels like it's in gear(it was in neutral) or the pistons are froze or stuck. Any ideas? Thanks (Stupid) John

remove the spark plugs and try cranking it with them out. Drain and refill the lower unit. What comes out lower unit oil? Water? Cottage Cheese?. If motor spins better with plugs out squirt a couple shots of 2 stroke oil in each cylinder and crank that a few times then put the plugs back in. Try starting it again.

Hi Eurolarva (Member #26469)

This is the wife to the stupid husband with the Sears 9.9 HP GamesFisher Motor. Your excellent advice got our motor up and running perfectly. After removing the first plug nothing came out, after removing the 2nd (bottom plug) gas poured out of it. He drained and refilled the lower unit and then put the plugs back in and after several pulls it started right up. Thanks for all your help, we much appreciate it.
