9.9 Johnson Motor Cowling Cracked

I have a 1988 9.9 hp Johnson outboard, with pull start of course. Recently I winterized the motor and while walking across the yard my lab tripped me up, the motor went flying and the cowling cracked (motor cover). I would like to buy another one but am uncertain of the year class that would fit this motor (ie. 1986-1992). Can anyone help? Thanks.

The best I can tell, hoods from 1987 -1988 were the same. Don't know about earlier or later years, as the hood part numbers are different...<br /><br />Your hood number is 0397718. Others may fit. Don't forget Evinrude would be the same(As far as fit). Someone who knows them well will come along soon...

I sure don't, but you're pretty close to a large outboard junkyard, tcoutboard.com. Why not just bring your old hood down there and find one that matches?

I have tried tcoutboard, although they want $85 for a new one. I was thinking i could buy one cheap on ebay for about $25. Just a thought. Thanks for the help.

if all you need is a replacement then take a shot at ebay. and replace the lab while you're at it j/k I like them crazy dogs got a year old chocolate in the family
