9.9 johnson sher pin problem

i have a 9.9 johnson from 1974 where would the sher pin be located? i was going at about half speed and the went too a idel when i went too take off again my motor would only go about 3 mph and when i would hit the throatle my motor would only rev up could this be the clutch? mind u i limped back too my dock doing 3 mph but it went for about 10 miles doing this.
all help is more then welcome in this matter thank u all for the help of this site:confused:

ok all i was diging in older posts and i found one the sounded like my problem, come too find out it wasnt the shear pin it was the rubber incert on the prop that had spun, this will act like a shear pin or a slipping of the clutch..........

i would still like too say thank u for all your help and too let everyone know that this site rocks :D

Has to be the prop hub slipping as your motor doesn't have a shear pin - proshaft is splined. Easiest way to confirm is to take a Sharpie and mark the propshaft and the propeller with a line, run the motor, and then note if the lines are still aligned...
