9.9 Mariner low speed Won’t plane

So I am new to boating and bought my first boat a 14’ Lowe with a 9.9 Mariner. The motor seems to run good but according to my fish finder GPS I can only run about 6-7mph. The prop has the markings A12 9P on it. Is it the prop I need to change to get more speed so that I can get up on plane?

Check for spark and compression you could be running on one cylinder.

How much speed are you hoping to get out of a small horse power motor on a 14 ft hull?
it would be very much on the low rating for that size boat,

what year is the motor?

l had a 12 ft tinny with a elderly 7.5 merc that would do much the same speed,
always wanted a 15 but never got there
don't know the boat but locally that size tinny would have something in the 20 -40 hp on it,

but that is what you have,
can't help with prop wizardry
