like the title says, which way does float go in carburetor or does it even matter?
this is my dads motor, from somewhere around 1990, mercury, 9.9 2 stroke... there were some problems with it a few years back and instead of rebuilding the carb we replaced it with a brand new one... then last year when I had it apart to clean I did not pay attention to which way the float was when I took it apart. there is no hinge on this it just floats up and down in the bowl and the plastic shape is not symmetrical... I compared to the original carb and the floats are not the same shape. maybe up and down doesn't matter? though his boat is not running right and I want to make sure this is not part of the problem, it seemed fine when I put it in the water last spring but he complained to me and it certainly was not running right when I pulled it last fall, I suspect its mostly because it gets very little use and sits most of the summer even though I strongly encourage my dad to start it every week (he lives on a lake).
aprox 1990?, mercury, 9.9 2 stroke
