First post. I purchased a 14’ Princefraft w/1978 Evinrude 9.9 for me and the grandsons. The gentleman I bought the boat from said it hadnt been on the water in many years. It started up on 2 pulls be died after a couple minutes (very old ethanol gas). There wasnt a pee stream on muffs. Today I did a compression test and got 93 & 95 on the cold motor. My tester is probably 10yo and only used a few times on old motorcycles. I’m ordering an impeller and carb kit. Anything else needed to get started? I know the old motor needs a cover seal too. Anyone have a link to where I can purchase the needed parts?

Thanks, T4

nice rig motor looks decent. change gear oil ! check for water as creamy looking oil. remove prop & check for mono around the shaft. unwind slowly . Grease the prop shaft
when done btw always use new nylon seal on oil fill and vent bolts.

IBoats here should have parts or a local dealer... careful with CHINA stuff some pars don't fit and gaskets melt. try to stick with OEM parts

read up on Leroys series of articles

check fuel pump cover screen and pump operation.... if engine stops after a while use hand pumping to refill the carb to prove if pump is bad. open the tank vent !

cowl trim needs replacing (cracks) but maybe hard to find...If so just repair breaks with white silicone and pamper it. check EBay

old style carb why not just take it appart and clean all passages with carb cleaner... flush all passages .. blow all passages... you can use a cheap keyboard cleaning can from Dollar stores if you have no compressed air supply ... . when done do a (mouth) blow test on the carb's fuel inlet air in right side up NO AIR air upside down to check for proper inlet needle closure !

lots of utubes on line and documentation .see leroys " general carb maintenance"

Looks too be a low hours motor.----Install new fuel pump diaphragm as well.----Yes , that item is available.----Perhaps not listed in 78.----But listed on many newer models.

scribe/mark one side edges for easier reassembly
