9.9 problem

Hey I am new to the forum and I have a problem with a 9.9 rude. I tried to start it the other day and it ran for about 30 seconds and quit. Then would not start again The flywheel spins freely and it has a full fuel tank. Any help would be great.

What is the model number? Do you have compression on both cylinders?

Test the spark with the spark plugs removed. If ignition is solid state type, the spark should jump a 7/16" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame. Does it?

The motor is a '79 and i just pulled it out of storage after sitting in there for about 3 years. So I haven't had time to check much.

Sitting 3 years...... Remove, clean, and rebuild the carburetor.

Yep... after you check the spark and compression

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Just got back to town so I am going to try them and post the outcome.
