9.9 shift shaft adjustment

1993 4 stroke changed out waterpump but cant get the coupler/length set properly. Forgot to count the threads before i undid the coupler. Have adjusted it but cant get it set to neutral properly. There isnt an adjustment procedure in the manual that i could find. Thanks

Solved, for some reason the barrel hex nut got turned without having it attached to the lower shift shaft which put it out of adjustment. disassembled the 2 put both the shifter and lower into reverse and started to "lengthen" the barrel nut until it grabbed onto the threads of the lower rod. Was about 4-5 turns out. Now shifts perfectly
