EDIT: I was told no replacements are made because they never go bad. Mine didn't go bad we fried it. Thinking of buying replacement magneto if I can find a transformer. I just have this thing about not being able to fix things. I know this is probably a lost cause, but I think I want to see if the new magneto will bring this motor back to life for many years. I enjoy fighting loosing battles. I am new to working on outboards and don't really want to go down on my first try. I did learn not to just buy a good deal do some research first. Thanks for your help.

Don't give up so easily. There are many outboard dismantlers that have good used parts for sale.

My favorite is www.tcoutboard.com

Good luck. :)

Sorry about the double post not what I meant to do. Don't know what happened, but wanted to know if anyone has a transformer they want to sell.

Discount marine should know what he is talking about??
But we seem to get a lot of these 9.9 and 15 Eskas with no spark.
Someone did find ignition parts but as I recall something like $60 don't know if a transformer or what it was.I would part it out.and put the money toward
a E/J 10 54? -63. simple to work on plentiful parts supply routine parts right here at iboats.among many other places. The 9.5 64-73 I think has some parts issues the 9.9 74 on is a better bet.But both the low profile motors can be a pain to work on.
