9.9 to 15 HP Bigfoot

I have a newer 9.9 Merc Bigfoot that I am using for a kicker on my riverboat. I ahve been told that the difference in the 9.9 and 15 is the carb only. Can someone confirm that and possibly provide a part number for the carb assy?<br /><br />1999<br />9.9 Merc<br />Ser. Number 0G821384

I thinks thats true. I've got a 8hp and a 15hp and the only difference I can see are the carb sizes.

I was told that the 15 has better exhaust scavenging in addition to the bigger carb. Simply putting a larger carb on the 9.9 would only load up the engine with too much fuel and make it run worse. You'd have to modify the exhaust as well, and I don't know if this is a DIY possibility.

If you were to order the new powerhead from Mercury for both the engines...you get the exact same one.<br /><br />Carb number for a 15hp is 835382T 3<br /><br />Gearing is the same. 13/26<br /><br />I am not saying it will work...I am just replying to some of your questions...NOT ALL.<br /><br />TMD
