I have been working on my father in laws pontoon with a E30eless 30 Hp Evinrude. I have been trying to get it running this year since it sat all last year. I rebuilt the carb and checked all adjustments. I have it so it idles but anything off idle and it does what is best described as a cough out the exhaust and stalls unless you can get the revs up high enough but it coughs at a more frequent rate. Its like the timing is off and firing on the wrong cylinders. I pulled the flywheel tonight to check the ignition and found nothing out of spec or the ordinary. Plugs are brand new. The only thing I did find wrong is 1 of the nipples for the primer solenoid is broken off so I connected the line to the 1 remaining but from what I understand that should only be a factor during cold starts when needing the primer..
I had considered that there may be a shorted wire in the harness but I am not sure how to Ohm them out since the ends in the ignition for the most part are in a sealed component,
