I have been piecing together parts to start a 150 FICHT motor without a boat. ie on a stand.

You will basically need the following:

Battery
Fuel Tank and line
Oil Tank and lines (need a tank that can take a return line)
Battery Cables
Wire harness
Ignition switch

You don't really need a shifter/throttle control, however, if you are going to be putting this on a boat you could buy one of those also.

I have all the part numbers and can post them if you would like.

I have everything but the wiring harness and key switch on the harness Im hoping not to but a whole wiring harness just something I can do a temp rig just to show it runs

Oil Tank brp-0177284
Battery Cable 91" brp-0584349
Electrical Harness 15' brp-0176340
Key Switch w/lanyard and horn brp-0176408

I have found all the parts I needed on eBay. I ended up with a 28' harness and a 10' battery cable because they were cheaper....total I have about $300 into these items. To purchase retail would have been $450-500.

There are also rigging kits available that will give you everything you need. Check eBay. I saw some pretty good deals on rigging kits.

If you plan to mount this motor to a boat at some point make sure you buy the right stuff for the boat you are planning to put the motor on.

Oh, I was posting my reply while you were replying.

Get the cheapest of these 3 part numbers that you can find:

Electrical Harness 28' brp-0176342
Electrical Harness 15' brp-0176340
Electrical Harness 20' brp-0176341

And this is as cheap as you will get for a key:

Key Switch w/lanyard and horn brp-0176408

Good luck.

with a battery hook to the engine and jumping the starter seloniod the engine should run, shutting it off is another story, the oil tank should be on the engine, the reserve tank at this point you don't need, to shut the engine down choke her out or ground the ingition system that is what the ingituion switch does. I didn't realize the 90HP Etec had the oil tank built onto the motor.

Also, I don't think it would be a good idea to start it by jumping the selonoid or grounding the ignition to kill it. I can't say with certainty, but I don't think you could actually start it and keep it running that way. You can crank the motor over fine but to keep it running you need the key in the "run" position. With the computer controlled ignition and fuel injection I think that it would be too much risk to justify jimmy rigging this.

What he told you to do is what the controls do. Use a small piece of wire to junp from the start pole to 12v you will need to find kill switch wires BEFORE YOU TRY TO START IT I have done this 6 or 8 times it will work fine.

Its one thing to do that on an older carb'd motor. To do it on a pretty sophisticated, direct injected, computer controlled motor is another thing. I'm sure you can make it work. However, I wouldn't suggest it as the risk of a fried computer, ignition coil, or other pricey component is to great.

I stand corrected on an older engine this method works fine the stator keeps the engine running after the battery cranked the engine to start and the wire to the ingition switch that grounds the magneto is what shuts the engine down, now with these newer computers I have to stand corrected chech a wire digram first.

If i am reading the wiring sheet on the other tread sent it, it is the same as the older engine as I stated black / yellow connected to black witch is your stop circurit, and ground and the engine should stop thats how my older engines work anyway.but before playing with your computer ask a dealer first to be perfectly sure, Have a safe and happy holiday season Bob
