I just bought a Maxum with a 90 HP force outboard. I see everyone suggests replacing the water pump impeller as a form of preventive maintainance. Where can I find instructions on doing this and also where can I find the parts to complete this? Thanks in advance! :)

Buy or get from library the appropriate Clymers manuel and follow the steps. Just ask this site if you need additional help. Found a web site in Hawaii that had the impeller for a great price-http://www.maxrules.com/fixforceindex.html
good luck!!
:D

Re: 90 HP Force help needed

I would purchase a manual like clymers and read the directions. I just did my 96 you need to take off the lower gear case I belive there are 6 bolts total that need to come off including the trim anode. Besure you disconect the shift linkage, I think yours is a cotter pin. Then gently slide straight down. Dont forget to take a flash light and see if there are any washers or crank case rubber thingys inside the case. The impeller is on the shaft secured by 4 bolts. My shaft spins clockwise so as you lower the cover turn the shaft clockwise to fit the impeller(grease her good) in. Locktite the bolts put back on the lower gear case gently! Do not force it only apply a small amount of grease on the outter edge of the shaft splines not on top as it could hydro lock it which is bad. Spin the shaft just a little to get it in the power head splines. Locktite the bolts securing everything together. Do a static check to make sure your neutral is neutral forward is forward and so on. Static check means without the motor running spin the prop by hand. :p Good luck Also besure you buy a new thermostate for $12 its a must have. You may need to reseal your housings ask your parts dealer.
