I am still trying to sort out the ignition on my 1984 90 hp. Brief History: started with loosing spark. found blown fuse. replaced and still had no spark. found yellow wires from stator to rectifier burned up. one was burned completly in half. Soldered new wires and shrink wrapped . NOW IT SEEMS TO FIRE OUT OF TIME. Any suggestions Do you think it blew the switches out?

Re: 90 hp inline six stator question

is it possible only half of your cylinders are firing? Id say check plugs, try to find out which ones arent firing, if possible, maybe you just have a dead coil? if you find 3 good plugs, and 3 soaking wet with gas plugs, sway coils to see if the problem flip flops. worth a try I think.

You need a manual to do some testing. I would start with a compression check to see if its worth it.
