I have a 1985 Mariner 90 hp inline 6 cyl. There is no water coming out of the tell-tale hole. I am going to replace the impeller & thermostat. I cannot find the thermostat. I have a manual for the motor but it is unclear as for the location. Can someone give me a little advice. Thanks in advance for any help!

I believe it doesn't have a thermostat. I don't think any of the inline 6's do. Even so, thermostats are frequently blamed, but rarely the problem. Do the water pump, but you just might have a clog in the telltale.

The T/stat is located on the port side above the poppet valve.
After replacing the impeller and T/stat,it would be prudent to check, clean or replace the poppet valve,if the valve is stuck shut your engine will also overheat.

Thanks for the info. I will be checking it out this weekend. I did check the tell-tale already & that was clear. I will post again when I get the job done with the results.
Thanks! :D
