90 hp merc leaking fuel

Hi,

I just backed my boat into the yard and unhooked it. I walked around back and suddenly I could hear fuel trickling out of it. The fuel was coming from the underside of the head of the engine (open grates). It basically syphoned what little fuel was left in the tank. Anyone know what would cause this?

This is a 1982 90 hp mercury 6 cylinder (outboard).

Any help is greatly appeciated.

Update to my post.

I just went out and took the cover off and hooked up a tank of gas. I then pumped the primer bulb. When I then trimmed/tilted the engine forward I could see fuel dripping from all 3 carbs. Don't know if this will help with the diagnosis.
