90 hp merc

I am getting water in the oil, is this maybe from the cooling system? What are some trouble shooting methods how do I repair?

It definitely could be...what year engine and how many hours so far? Where has it been stored and what kind of care has been given since new?

I am actually looking to buy this motor, It is a 2001 for only 300 bucks. I am trying to figure if it would be a cheap fix and worth the money to buy and fix myself. I belive the overall care has been good.

I take it this is a four-stroke? If it is, two things bother me with the price. 1) The engine is hot (as in stollen) or 2) It has known issues that will be expensive to fix -- such as a cracked head or block. $300 for either a 90 HP two or four stroke is extremely cheap and therefore red flags are waving like crazy.
