# 4 cylinder not firing
Hello all
I have what I think is a late 70's or early 80's 90 hp mercury tower of power 6 cylinder. I have not been able to fine a year or a serial number on the transom. My problem is that I have a dread cylinder. My number 4 cylinder is not firing. I took the plug out of that cylinder and it was dry. The engine has two switch box and 6 coils no distributor. would it be a coil is bad and one of the switchboxes is bad.

yes.

swap the #4 coil with another coil, and see if the misfire moves to the new cylinder.
If it does, its the coil.
If it doesn't, then test/ swap the switchbox.

Hey Roscoe
Thanks for the info. It was the switchbox. Now the # 4 cylinder is firing. Now I have to figure out while the tilt and trim not working. It just click when I push the switch on the control

Hey Roscoe
I can't fine the serial number on that old tower of power 90 hp. I look in the front and the side. Just can't seem to find it. No tag no where. The cover is black and trim in red. It has no distributor
