Hello:

I'm considering an Xpress HD18CC boat. I can get it with either motor described in the subject heading (anyone with experience with this hull, much appreciated if you have any comments). Oh, the 90HP Yamaha is NOT a 4-stroke. I know Nissan repair can be hard to locate, but I have an excellent one in my area, so that is not a problem. Really appreciate any comments ya'll may have.

BHC

Tohatsu is known to be a maker of excellent engines (including Nisssan), BHC, but so is Yamaha.

If the Yammy is carbed and the Nissan TLDI direct injected I would go for the Nissan to get easier starting, quieter running and better fuel economy.

have you ever owned a nissan outboard?

i have. ive owned 3!

i wont say what id get, but it wouldnt be the yammy!

they make a great motor, but youre gonna pay extra for the name and all the "sponsored fish tournaments"

tohatsu makes one fine motor. very light and quiet for a 2 stroke at least. start every time.

tohatsu is the only major outboard manufacturer to have never had a recall on their motors.

when was the last time you saw a kingfish tournement sponsored by tohatsu?

ask elvin, he'll tell ya... toe-what-sue?

I currently own a Nissan 50 TLDI- 2 years old. I run it hard to my fishing holes and troll it all day long, then run hard for home. Never has it quit. It is quiet- easy on fuel, light, and best of all clean. No smell when trolling is a good thing. Keep in mind that Nissan/ Tohatsu has built their reputation upon their reliabiltiy.

I too have a great Nissan dealer in my area and wouldn't hesitate to recommend one to anyone.
