Hey guys,

I gave my dad my old 1988 90HP Johnson, and he just changed the water pump on it. He put it back together, and it started, shifted into gear, sprayed water from the teltale, but it was leaking/spraying water out of the seal where the lower unit connects. He said in continued to leak the water for a while, as though the whole unit filled with water.

Any ideas as to what this could be? He said he tightened the bolts up good, so it shouldn't be that.

Thanks.

That's a normal happening... metal to metal surfaces which will eventually seal up with debris. However if it bothers you, drop the lower unit slightly (1/2") and insert the following sealer. We normally coat the top surface with a small bead of this sealer before installing it. It drys fairly fast and can be purchased at any dealership.

Adhesive: Bombardier 3M Product #847

Mr. Reeves, you were just the man I was hoping to hear from. I really appreciate the help.
