90HP correct battery capacity?

I need to get a battery for a 1990 90HP Force and have no idea what would be the correct capacity. I see that they can range a fair bit in price from some of the smaller CCA models up to the larger ones. Any guidelines on what to get that would be enough to crank this engine over?

Thanks

Hello,

Go with 1000 Cold Cranking Amps. Also, be sure to purchase a Marine STARTING BATTERY and not a Marine Deep Cycle Battery ( Trolling Motor).

Good Luck

Re: 90HP correct battery capacity?

A real marine starting battery will be rated in "marine cranking amps" (rated at 32*f), not "cold cranking amps", (rated at 0*f ).

Mercury recommends 525 Marine Cranking Amps (MCA) for 2 stroke outboards in the 75 - 125 hp range. (which by the way is approx. 400 cca)

So any marine starting battery rated for 500 MCA or more, will work for your motor.
