i just got a 1982 90hp johnson and a couple of you answered my question on a soaking to unseaze and now I wanted to ask if anyone has some advice on what type of fuel mixture I should run through it after I soak it and hopefully break it loose. What would be good to get the juices flowing and everything spinning like a well oiled machine.
Thanks again guys.

Break in for rebuilt engines calls for 24:1,double oil. Wouldn't hurt anything if you wanted to. :)

alan,

I agree with 24:1 for maybe six gallons or so. That mixture tends to load them up pretty quickly.

If you do run it like that for a while, I would do a decarb. right after that. 50:1 is "normal".

Hi, Alan.

After the 6 gal at 24:1, use 50:1.

Re: 90hp johnson fuel mixture

what is decarbing?? Removing the carburator and cleaning out the jets?? How long should I fun it at that mixture?? I don't want to foul the plugs or anything. And should I put it in the water to do that or should it be ok to put on the earmuffs off the house water.
