90hp merc trim cylinder leaking on the top

so i'm leaking some atf out of the top of the cylinder, i got the motor pump / cylinder all in one combo, i got it off, ordered the entire rebuild kit, about $50, my question is this. i am pretty comfortable doing the cylinder, however what is involved in rebuilding the rings on the pump? is it tough? anyone tried it? necessary? i couldn't find any info to do this, any advice would be great, thanks.

Rebuild kit for 50 bucks sounds cheap.
I have never done the rings on the pump.
I would use all the parts in the rebuild kit.
You could get a factory service manual,
It's probably on you tube, watch all the videos, you will learn something from every video. Tear the pump apart when you feel comfortable.
