i have a 1989 88spl that runs great, and a 1982 140hp that i overheated and seized. can i pull the powerhead from the 88spl, add the carbs and exhaust plates from the 140, put back on the 140 midsection and have a 140? the 140 mid and lower are in MUCH better shape.

i cant completley remember, but i THINK the 140 has more agressive port timing.??

The port timing and port area are different but you can convert the 88 porting to the early 140 / late 115 porting.

Trying to DIY porting is not recommended as it is better done by a marine machinist.

it is more complicated than you think, you could end up with 2 dead motors.
