Hello all,
I'm looking over a '91 Merc 40 HP oil injected Classic for a friend. I got the motor delivered to me with all of the cables/wiring unhooked. I believe I have most of it figured out by just matching wire colors. I have the throttle/shift linkage working. I'm left with the battery cables. I can't see where they hook up to the engine.

Can someone please tell me where the battery cables hook up?

Thanks,

HD

Very Basic... the ground cable goes to the bottom bolt on the starter and the the red cable goes to the starter selonoid under the black cover..It goes on the big lug I believe 1/2 for the socket or wrench..On the oposite post will be the cable going to the starter if that helps...good luck..........

I have that same motor and if you need a voltage regulator a guy on eBay has some NOS for 48 bucks with free shipping. I had a tach that was not working and in troubleshooting that I found the regulator was burned up
