I cut and capped the vro pump about 5 years ago and it has been running really good. Obviously I mix my own fuel. This morning after I came in from fishing I took the cowling off because I thought I heard a tap which was coming from the vro pump. It is coming from the vro pump because you can feel it when you hold you finger against it. I was wondering if I could remove the entire pump because the knocking/tapping is driving me crazy. I am not sure if this will affect anything else? I have already disconnected the alarm when I capped off the pump 5 years ago.

Any suggestions?

Re: 91 60hp Evin Vro knocking

I know when some VRO pumps are getting bad they 'click alot"If you want to spend the money ,get a replacement. In a rebuild shop I worked,we would change the VRO as part of our rebuild for those whom wanted to keep the VRO system. We kept used VRo pumps that worked to sell to guys like yourself that converted. You can convert to the old standard fuelpump. The olde 3cyl still had the port and screwholes for the pump.I think that was changed later on.Try and do a post on here about converting your 91 70 to the old style fuelpump. That would be the easier/cheaper way ,unless you have access to a decent used VRO pump which you will nly use for fuel delivery purposes.Perhaps on ebay. But you can likely get one at a salvage yard. They however may look for big $ as being VRO.Good luck

Thank you for the information. I will do a search for the conversion kit/pump. I assume the vro pump is the fuel and oil pump? I am new to fixing these engines and originally assumed the oil pump and fuel pump were seperate.
