I believe you should have 2 holes on the back of the motor below the cowling,This is also the exhaust relief and should have water coming out of them.I don't think you have a telltail hole but could add one. When was the last time you changed the impeller?

If you don't know when the impeller was last changed, change it anyway. The water will be coming out of the exhaust relief holes on the back of the engine leg. It will not be peeing out like a normal pee hole. It will be spraying and is hard to see with the exhaust. You can turn it around at a dock and see if water is coming out.

His 70 hp should have a telltale "pee hole" on the starboard side.
And it has only one exhaust relief hole on the rear.

You need a new impeller, might as well do the thermostat as well. And the fuel pump if it has not been done in the last few years.

This is called preventative maintenance.

Better to do it now, than to overheat the motor or be stranded out on the water.
