Good morning guys, i recently aquired a 91 200hp evinrude, and finally got it out yesterday. it ran hot after about 10 minutes, i let it cool down and got it back on the trailer. Pulled t-stats, and had the starboard side pretty gummed up, replaced both stats and the water pump.
Appears to be getting oil, but what is the easiest way to check oil pressure at the pump?

well i would start it on muffs, easiest way to make sure it has oil is to premix, or to change your VRO pump to an OMS pump.

Took it to the lake yesterday, and still warmed up quick, was'nt noticing very much smoke, so I forced oil through with the primer bulb from oil resevoir, and it started cooling down. I think I'll go and disconnect the oil pump and pre=mix, all other motors I've aquired already had this done, so I guess I'l take that route. Thanks

VRO conversion w/ pump still working

if the fuel side on your Pump is still working it is very simple. unplug the 2 line harness going to the oil tank, unplug the 3 or 4 wire harness, going to the Vro pump. cut and cap the oil line going into the motor. add oil to fuel tank, mix well, then remove fuel line at top carb, catching gas in a container, pump the fuel line bulb until you get premixed gas to the carb. you can tell as it will change color. put line back on carb, and go boating.

I did as instructed in some previous posts on disconnection of vro, seems as though it is starving for fuel now. Runs well for about a minute, then starts to starve and eventually die. Should i check and clean vaccum hose as instructed in manual? The wierd thing is, it did'nt seem to starve for fuel prior to vro disconnect, maybe a vapor lock?

What do you think Tashadaddy? I cant figure out why the motor would starve for fuel if the vro is sealed properly, it definetly was'nt doing this prior to vro disconnect, would it have gotten a vapor lock do to opening the oil intake line?
