Did you ever find out where the wires on your Mariner go? I've got an 85 115 Mariner on a Venture bass boat that a friend gave me. Critters got in the boat and chewed the wiring all up. Said I could have it if I rewired it. I'll try to take some pictures of where those wires are going in mine.
I'm curious about the Blue, Green, Brown & Purple wires with white stripes on them. What are they for. Mine are arranged in a flat cable as they exit the control box but once they get back to the back of the boat they go into a molded rubber plug that doesn't come apart and only 3 wires come out. One of those is chewed up and I'm not sure where it's supposed to end up. Now that I saw them in your motor though I've got a clue to go on.
Mike, That sounds like your power trim control wires. Blue/white is usually up, green/white is usually down, purple/white is fuzed +12VDC. Brown may be a tilt sendor, but that is just a guess.
Chris is correct about the blue and green wires with the white traces, they would have been used to trigger the power trim relays. Some motors have another switch on the cowling, these may be extra in our motor and not used.
The two blue wires with the female sockets connect to the two blue wires with male bullets from the oil tank sensor for the low oil alarm.
The black wire with yellow trace (female connector) is an ignition module kill wire.
Please post one more picture of the upper wiring now viewable in these, it may be very helpful in identifying the few remaining wires that have been spliced.
Does this motor run?
Do any accessories work?
Is there 12Volts switched on with the key to a fuel guage?
These can also be helpful in determining if that red wire must be connected to the battery cable post.
