Hello all
I have a 1991 mercury black max 150 that started sounding the oil alert (short beeps) at around 1500 rpms after a week of not being run. It seemed to clear at around 3000rpms. It I have checked to make sure it is getting oil to the tank on the motor, and at the oil pump itself by checking the bleed screw. I checked the oil cam setting and the oil cap and float. A friend was thinking it might be a rectifier/ regulator going bad as it seemed that a load on the electrical system (using the trim) seemed to make the horn stop. I have check the voltage which is about 14 volts max and also checked to see if there was AC voltage in the system but there is only .1 volts so now I'm wondering if it is something else and where to look next. I am also not sure if putting a load on the electrical was a red herring as it doesn't seem to do that now.
Any thoughts what to try next would be great.
Thanks!
