Re: 91 omc 3.0

If memory serves they were having problems with parts because OMC went out of business. I think now bombadair (sp?) bought them out and the production lines are back up.
Jason

GEdwards
I guess it depends on what part you are looking for. The 3.0 Engine is a GM block and used by OMC, VOVO, and MERC. I am quit sure you can get parts for it form many sources. a 91 I belive is a OMC COBRA outdrive. Correct me if that is incorrect. OMC is no longer in business. Vovo took over the I/O as the cobra was a joint venture between the two anyway. Bombardier bought Johnson and Evinrude and is right now still making outboard parts. I will tell you can no longer get whole new outdrives for the OMC 400 and 800 series but part you can still get and several places still will work on them. I belive the last year they made this outdrive was about 1989. On Bombardier web site under news I think I saw something about a comitment to make parts for old OMC products, but it may have just Been outboard parts. One thing I know for sure is for the Serries 400,800 only about half as many place will work them mow as 3 years ago. I have one and am doing some work so been checking and have got many reply like only have one guy that know unit and he does not want to fool with at this time of the season. If your planning on keeping it for a long time may want to get type and model number and call a few dealer. You can always change out engine and outdrive but will cost at least $10,000.
