i have a 91 merc v-200 2 stroke motor and the other day at the lake, it decided it didn't want to start. not even a sound when turning the key (besides the oil level beep that is standard). was able to run the boat by jumping across the starter solenoid. so I figured that is what was wrong. I changed the solenoid out today, and it is still doing the same thing. I also replaced the bus fuse that is connected to the solenoid. motor will turn when jumping across still, but have nothing when I turn the key. where do I go to next? Thanks in advance

i put 12v to the yellow and red wire and solenoid did a half a turn and then nothing. im assuming that the new solenoid is bad, because all fuses are still intact and im in the same predicament as before. is there another test or should I just order another one up. and if I do order one is there a test I can do before I put it on the boat to see of that one is good before I go through the trouble

disconnect tha BIG positive wire between tha solenoid and starter... have someone turn tha key ta start and hold it there while you check tha yellow/red on tha solenoid for power that's maintained as long as tha key is in start position.... this will eliminate key sw and/or harness...

ok I did that and had 12v at the lug. so I ordered and just installed another new solenoid, put a jumper from battery to s terminal, and solenoid worked. so I hooked it all back up and now when I turn the key to on, my battery gauge reads, but nothing else that is normal happens. the low oil warning buzzer doesn't sound like normal, and when I turn the key nothing happens with the starter. where do I go from here. I guess trace the key switch out?

Hey thanks for the help. Got it running again but have a hey switch that's on its way out. Guess when it does I'm just going to wire in a push button start but until then we are rockin and rolling
