I will be looking at a boat (Wahoo 1850) with a '91 Yamaha 150. I intend to check compression. From reviewing posts, I have gleaned that anything greater than a 10% variance between cylinders is indicative of impending problems.
Assuming consistency between cylinders, at what threshold would one be concerned that the motor (rings, head) is tired?
Where do I look to inspect the shift shaft?
What other areas should I attend to?
All suggestions appreciated, Thank you,
jws
