Just got my 92 Johnson 120TLAND back with a replaced kill switch. They said they heard a bit of a knock which definitely wasn't there before I removed the flywheel and checked the woodruff key?

What's the best way to make sure that my timing is set? I've read a few different methods and it's not clear what's best.

you need the factory manual to do it properly. if you do a search, you will find it using a piston stop too however, the quick way to check if the key had sheared is to stick a pencil in the #1 cylinder, get it to its highest point, and check the timing pointer. should read TDC.

diff. in the fuel ratio used in the shop mix? Recheck the key, and make sure the tapers are clean and the flywheel is torqued to spec.
