Hello, i have a 92 200gt that is running rich at idle. It seems to run fine at WOT and i replaced the thermostats to make sure it is running at operating temp. I put new plugs in and 4 hours later they are extremely oily again and foul out after about 20 hours of use. I took it to the shop and they said that all of the carbs are "linked?" properly and opening together and the timing is correct. Does anyone have any ideas of what to look at? Thanks in advance,

Steve

What plugs? Are the carbs clean? Has it been sitting without being used?

Good luck!

i am running the recommended plugs, i forget the number, but they are the champion QL77??? The motor gets used about once a week and has been getting the omc injector cleaner about every 30 to 40 hours of use. I have also been putting a can of seafoam in about every third tank of gas. My mechanic took one of the carbs off to see if it had any junk in it, but he said it was clean and there was no need to pull the other ones off. Thanks for the info

Steve

Good. Make sure the primer valve is turned completely off. Then start the motor and pull one of the small injector lines and make sure fuel is not leaking past the primer causing a rich condition.

It could be weak spark at the plug. Have the dealer read the spark voltage with a KV meter. Check all the grounds. Especially the ones on the coils. Then pull the primary wires (small orange) on each coil and make sure they are clean. No green crud allowed! Same for the spark plug wires.

This is all assuming no one has rejetted the idle circuit or mixed up the mid range and idle jets.

Keep us informed!

i have the same motor except mines a 1990, great motor but i have the same problem running rich. Im getting 65 mph at 5500 rpm wot but at idle it sucks, it idles smooth then spits and just keeps repeating that over and over. I would check a different dealer out if u havent already fixed the problem. My Ranger dealer is Rebuilding my carbs with new floats and orfices. Its actually something that would need done anyways on an older motor. Keep me informed on any changes
