Hi, Took pontoon out for first time to do final carb adjustment since replacing newly re-built mer carb from Fly Fish Marine Carburetor's. Engine seemed to cough and stumble when throttle was pushed forward fast regardless of how air mix screw was set. Sometimes it would take off good, but then start acting as if coil was coming and going. Kind of like smooth power to missing; and back to smooth. All ignition parts such as coil, cap, plugs/wires and rotor are new except for sitting for almost a year. As is the starter, fuel pump, water separator and carb. Timing has been set and engine starts with just a touch of the switch, and idles great. It just acts like a plug wire is coming and going. Pulled all plugs and found first two black with sut and the back two cleaner but weter from fuel. Cleaned them and reset gap from 35 to 37 as someone said that helped his 3.0 run better. Checked inside the cap for moister and carbon but all looked good. Did notice the plug wire post of the coil seemed to have cosmoline or something on it so I cleaned it, and am wondering it that was causing my problem. Plugs tell me I'm rich, but just couldn't tweak air /fuel screw to where it would take the fuel at WOT. and not miss. Pontoon is a 25' Crest and my top speed with the miss was 22mph.Plugs are NKG BPR6EFS..Any thoughts for things to try would be appreciated. Haven't been back on water since checking those things mentioned above.
