'92 40 hp Johnson, water comes out of exh

1st year of boating, many questions, not sure of part names.<br />'92 40 hp Johnson model TJ40ELENM on 17 ft aluminum<br />There are 2 holes on the backside of the motor that exhaust comes out of, part way down. I had cleaned the carbs, so I ran the motor with ear muffs. Noticed that water seems to come out of these 2 holes as well. Normal or Problem ? Major (like don't run it) or minor ?

Ditto on the normal. Those are exhaust relief holes and you should see water spitting out of them...If you don't, then it's time to worry...
