All the grounds SEEM seem grounded, unless I've missed one somewhere.

Only way I can kill it is to pull the gas.

Help.

Steve

Re: '92 Force 70hp won't shut down....

Figured it out....

Evidently, the previous owner had made a repair to the wiring harness near the motor...BUT...inside the rear hatch, so I never saw it. I discovered it while checking continuity between the black (ground) and the black/yellow (kill) and the prongs on the end of the wiring harness. Black-good...but had to be since the motor ran. Black/yellow-bad...AH HA.

So, after pulling off what seemed like a mile of electric tape, I discovered that there was a nick in the insulation of the black/yellow and the wire totally corroded through. So I just made a small patch and re-taped. But I know that I have a much more permanent repair ahead of me...removing all those butt splices, soldering, heat shrinking, etc.

Just goes to show you that a multimeter and wiring diagram are MOST USEFUL tools.
