Hi, I just bought the motor a few months ago, took it straight to the shop and got the carb kits put on (3cyl) new tilt and trim pump and motor, they did compression check all cyl are around 120iish (cant really remember)
ok, i took the boat out a few times with no problems. took the wife out for the first time and boat ran for a few hours and i cut it off just for a few minutes and it wouldnt start back for about 30min and wen it did, it ran like it would lose and regain power..then died again..
then a couple days later cranked in the yard no prob ran fine exept in nutral where it will idle for 5 min and shut off..
took it out again and it ran fine until we tried to crank it to leave...nothing, i thought it was the bulb on fuel line so i replaced it and the female connector to the motor..the bulb still wont get hard unles you pump it 100 times reaaaallly fast..any suggestions? could the problem be in the gas tank? (12gal red plastic)

any help appriciated!!

First suspect: fuel pump diaphragm or check valves.
Second suspect: cracked fuel pickup tube in tank, making it suck air.
Third suspect: air getting into the line somewhere, probably between bulb and tank.

Re: 92 mercury 75 flooding?

i can see tiny air bubbles at the top of the pickup tube when i hold it outta the tank..will that cause the engine to flood???
will that keep the bulb from getting tight??
does this keep fuel from getting to the engine??

thanks

Did you check to see if the vent on the gas tank is open?
